Jones Hargreaves were appointed to undertake a comprehensive energy efficiency audit and net zero pathway study for a large industrial manufacturing facility occupied by Purflux Filtration. The study assessed the building’s existing energy performance, identifying key energy consumption drivers including heating and lighting, and evaluated opportunities to reduce operational carbon emissions and improve EPC performance.
The project involved detailed energy modelling and optioneering, considering a range of decarbonisation strategies including electrification of heating via VRF systems, implementation of electric radiant heating within warehouse areas, LED lighting upgrades with intelligent controls, and integration of renewable technologies such as solar PV and wind generation.
A phased roadmap was developed to support the client’s long-term ESG objectives, including improving energy efficiency, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and future-proofing the asset in line with anticipated regulatory changes. The output provided a structured pathway for investment decision-making and subsequent refurbishment works.
Following the completion of an energy efficiency study, Jones Hargreaves were appointed to deliver Phase 1 refurbishment and improvement works to a large industrial asset, acting as Project Manager, Employer’s Agent, and MEP consultant.
The scope of works focused on implementing key sustainability and asset enhancement measures, including LED lighting upgrades, drainage improvements, roof refurbishment, photovoltaic installation, insulation enhancements, and HVAC upgrades replacing gas-fired systems with electric alternatives including high efficiency VRF.
Jones Hargreaves led the project from early-stage design through to construction, managing the consultant team, coordinating surveys and investigations, and producing RIBA Stage 3 MEP design and tender documentation. The procurement strategy adopted a design-and-build approach, enabling efficient delivery while maintaining design control.
During construction, the team will provide ongoing project management, contract administration, and technical oversight, ensuring that works are delivered in line with programme, cost, and performance objectives. The project forms a key element of the client’s wider strategy to enhance building performance, reduce carbon emissions, and improve long-term asset value.
